Bristol International Airport

Gateway to the very best of British Antiques!

"Daily flights from New York to Bristol International Airport in Great Britain are likely to make the West Country a prime destination for US antiques buyers".

If you plan to visit the UK to buy English antiques and need to maximize your time, then you need to consider the following option.

From stepping off your flight you could be..
Down to business within an hour
and have the following at your disposal.

Hundreds of Specialist & General Antique Dealers
Dozens Of Quality Antique Fairs
Over 30 Antique Centres
Over 60 Auction Houses
All within a two hour drive!

Many of these options are available 7 days a week,
or open by appointment.

From the 19th May 2005 Continental Airlines launches a
daily non-stop service between New York/Newark and Bristol.

Time saving will be an important factor for any antique buyer to consider when booking Continental to Bristol. The Airport is comparatively congestion free and arriving antique buyers can literally get down to business within an hour or so of collecting their bags from the aircraft!

Together with some thoughtful scheduling the service allows for a full day's business to be conducted on both arrival in the UK and prior to departure back to the States. The 172 seat Boeing 757-200 aircraft will depart New York/Newark daily at 8:55 pm, arriving Bristol at 8:55 am the next day with a flying time of approximately seven hours, the return flight departing from Bristol at 11:10am arriving back in Newark at 14.00pm mid-day with a flight time of about eight hours.

The new service is not only restricted to visitors from central and eastern USA, as Continental is the only major airline to operate a hub at Newark Liberty International Airport and the Bristol flights have been conveniently timed to connect with their extensive network of service throughout the USA, Canada and Latin America.

Bristol International Airport is located 8 miles south of the City of Bristol and within 15 miles of the world heritage city of  Bath, which with the surrounding towns has possibly some of the finest antiques dealers to be found in Britain. Furthermore Bristol is only a very short distance, about twenty miles from the southern edge of the Cotswolds, which apart from it's outstanding natural  beauty is home to dozens of reputable antiques specialists in the towns of Tetbury, Stow on the Wold, Moreton in Marsh, Chipping Camden, Burford and Lechlade to name just a few.

Westerly into Wales is very accessible by road, search out our database for Welsh country furniture, or if books are you market, Hay on Wye more than lives up to it's reputation as the 'Town of Books'.

Similarly, a little over an hour or so from the airport in a southerly direction is the small market town of Honiton, Devon where you will find a varied selection of more than 20 antique dealers with others to be found in nearby villages. Whilst in an easterly direction Hungerford has over 15 quality dealers plus 2 antique centres and you should be able to reach the town in a little under two hours from the airport.

If that doesn't sound enough, the area abounds with some excellent antique fairs, notably at the Royal Bath and West Showground, Shepton Mallet. The showground is home to a very large fair on weekends six times a year by one organiser and a very well supported Flea market held on a regular basis by another organiser. There is also a very large event held five times a year at West Point Exhibition Centre near Exeter which has a capacity of up to 500 exhibitors and the monthly antiques & collectors Sunday fair at Malvern which is less than two hours drive away from the airport. To numerous to mention here, there are also many, smaller fairs which may be checked on our database.

Also within easy reach of Bristol Airport is a selection of excellent antique centres, the nearest will be found in Bath, but worth the few extra miles in Gloucester at the dockside, nearby Tetbury now has five centres and Hungerford with two.

The whole area also has numerous salerooms with a vast range of items, some have weekly general sales and many scheduled specialist sales. At our last count there were over 60 entries for salerooms in our database, and we're still adding to the list.

Summing up, possibly within about 80 miles in all directions, there will be found more contacts that will keep even the most ardent collector and discerning antique buyer busy for at least a week or more!

And finally if you need a few days to unwind after your tour, what could be better than a visit to some of the beautiful and picturesque towns and villages of Somerset, Devon or Cornwall.
