News Letter.
The Autumn Petersfield Antiques Fair.
The Festival Hall, Petersfield, Hampshire. GU31 4AE.
5th to 7th September 2008.
Fabulous antiques, paintings, sculpture, ceramics and collector's items from all over Britain will be going on sale at The Petersfield Antiques Fair from September 5th – 7th. This popular autumn event is a must for collectors and anyone looking for a special item of antique furniture or a painting to adorn their homes. 'We've got something for everyone,' says organiser Caroline Penman of Penman Fairs from East Sussex. 'With prices from less than £30 to more than £10,000, we cater for connoisseurs, collectors and first-time buyers.'
The fair takes place in the popular Festival Hall venue in the heart of Petersfield where 43 exhibitors present their displays to professional exhibition standards. More than 5,000 individual pieces go on sale and all exhibits are vetted for quality and authenticity by a committee of independent experts. 'This ensures that buyers can make their purchases with confidence and is the mark of a good quality fair,' explains Caroline Penman, who used to be an antique dealer herself
and knows how collectors who invest in fine quality antiques need that kind of reassurance.
Exhibits on sale range from Victorian and 20th century oil paintings and watercolours, English and Continental pottery and porcelain, fine silver and jewellery, designer watches, Art Nouveau bronze sculpture and early English folk art to early Chinese Blue & White porcelain, fine Georgian and Victorian furniture, Art Deco glass, Georgian decanters and all kinds of rare and unusual collector's items.
Among the exhibitors will be many leading specialists including A. Fleming Antiques from Southsea showing Georgian and Victorian furniture, W.A.Pinn & Sons and Lennard Antiques from Essex with 18th and early 19th century country furniture, metalwork and ceramics; Andrew Greenacre from London, specializing in ceramics; Nicholas Shaw Antiques from West Sussex specializing in English and Scottish silver; Cynthia Walmsley from Nottinghamshire, showing a range of early English miniature portraits; Mark Newsum Antiques from Gloucestershire showing treen and folk art, and Tempus, the watch and timepiece specialists from Surrey.
