An Evening with Lars Tharp of The Antiques RoadshowSton Easton Park Hotel in Somerset is fortunate to posses a very fine collection of antique furniture and china, and when they heard the BBC Antiques Roadshow would be coming to nearby Wells they decided to host a special evening for antiques enthusiasts.  Lars Tharp (pictured), is one of the regular experts on the programme, a specialist in ceramics and fine art as well as being a very entertaining after dinner speaker, Lars will join guests for a pre-dinner Champagne reception at 6.30pm on Wednesday 17th September 2008 and talk through some of the fine antiques housed at the Hotel, as well as some interesting items of his own.

Head Chef, Michael Parke will then present a fabulous three course dinner and Restaurant Manager, Stephen Waites will select wines to accompany the menu. After dinner and during coffee, Lars will be your after dinner speaker and promises to delight with anecdotes from the BBC Antiques Roadshow as well as sharing a few trade secrets. Booking information can be found on the Ston Easton Park Hotel website.

Filming for the Antiques Roadshow and presented by new host Fiona Bruce takes place a few miles away on Thursday 18 September at The Bishop's Palace, Wells, which dates from the early-thirteenth century, in Somerset.

From Ston Easton Park it's only a few miles drive to the late summer, Shepton Mallet Antiques Fair which opens from 19th - 21st September, but whilst in the area and just a stones throw from the fair, why not make an appointment to drop into Pennard House Antiques, a major source of French and English country furniture and decorative accessories. Visitors will find six invited guest dealers in this glorious country house offering large dining tables and armoires from the French countryside, interesting English country furniture, elegant English and French mirrors, garden pieces, kitchenalia and some fabulous French textiles.
