Ron Heath - Owner of The Great British Antiques Web.

Hi!
I'm Ron Heath, owner of The Great British Antiques Web, I'd like to take this opportunity of thanking you for visiting our web site today and I'm delighted to be able to offer you some information of our Great British Antiques Tours.

Our business is based in Bristol, in the heart of the West of England, and central to what we believe is probably the best antiques region of Great Britain. Combined with our local knowledge and contacts in the antiques trade we will make every effort to deliver to you a tour which is both productive and cost effective.

The tours we offer are completely personalised for individuals, couples or a maximum of three people who are traveling together, whether you are a trade buyer, decorator or simply seeking some unique items for your own home. From the moment you first contact us we look forward to working with you to help source the pieces you want.

This is how we work, but ultimately you are in charge!
Your flight to Britain is arranged by yourself but we are pleased to suggest and discuss what alternatives are available to you, for example do you know that you can fly direct from New York to us here at Bristol in the West of England, saving you time and the cost of going via London. The airline which operates this route also has connections with over two hundred towns and cities across the USA, so you could be closer to us than you realise. You may of course want to take a few days sightseeing in the Capital before your tour with us starts, if so no problem we'll be delighted meet you at your hotel in London and drop you off at the airport in time for your return flight on your last day.
New York (Newark) to Bristol International Airport - MORE INFO

Incidentally, a sea crossing is a great relaxing alternative to air travel. With regular crossings from New York to Southampton we can be at your first antiques call within an hour or so of your arrival in Britain.

Whatever your choice of gateway and transatlantic travel are I will personally be there to welcome you on your arrival or meet you at any hotel in the UK. Ideally we recommend that your tour should be at least three days long and although some specialist visits can be reduced to less, in general we find attempting to do this usually creates stress with much prime viewing time being simply lost or hurried which ultimately results in negative decisions being made.

Another aspect of your tour is that we aim to work within your budget, both in the items you are looking for and other expenses such as your overnight accommodation.

One thing you can be sure of when allowing us to arrange a tour for you is that there are no hidden charges. For example we do not take a commission from any dealers you buy from. We will also arrange your overnight stops, but ask that you settle your account directly with the hotel. During your visit we will introduce you to a company of highly professional shippers with whom we work, more on this on our shipping page, but they will advise you their charges and you can deal directly with them. And finally when your visit is complete and we drop you off at your hotel or point of departure, our job just doesn't finish there. In the following days we will liaise with all the dealers you have bought from and our shippers to monitor collection of your purchases, keeping you updated as required to the point of shipping.

Some forward planning will help your visit considerably, for example if you are shopping for yourself be clear in your mind about the the sizes and items you are particularly seeking before you leave home, tell us in advance what you want and we will search our database for those dealers who usually stock your requirements and request pictures from them which we will offer to you beforehand or in a presentation on our first meeting. This simple process is a great time saver as it allows us to eliminate items which are not of interest to you but also quickly creates a preferred viewing list. All the pictures we have been supplied with are carried with us during your visit so you can refer back to them at any time. We also supply a digital camera so that you can photograph items as we go, thereby building a collection of possible purchases on which you can come to a decision on later.

Hopefully, you can see that we want you to get the best results from your visit and it is worth if possible to plan your tour to coincide with one of the many fine antiques fairs we have here, take a look to find out what's on and where from the link on the top left of this page. If none of the dates are convenient to your visit, don't worry as during your tour we will be visiting several dealers, many of whom back their reputation as members of local and national antiques dealer associations. Some of our visits will be in towns with a high concentration of dealers such as Tetbury, Stow on the Wold, Hungerford or Honiton as examples. Other visits could be with specialists who are simply not readily found in high streets, in fact country lanes might be more appropriate!

If you would like to contact me to discuss your requirements I'll be delighted to hear from you, you can do this by email or telephone.  If you prefer to email simply click on the link, top left to visit our 'Contact Us' page.
